About Me

Yale University, B.A. in Art, summa cum laude, Distinction in the Major, Phi Beta Kappa (elected junior year)

I am an accomplished editor with decades of experience—both on staff and as a freelancer. I began my editing career in educational publishing, editing and writing English, language arts, and history textbooks for college, high school, and middle school students. Over the years, I worked for a variety of major educational publishers and development houses. For more details, see my resume, which includes a list of many of my freelance projects over the years.

About twelve years ago, I decided to shift my focus to academic, art, nonprofit, and general editing—but my background in educational publishing (particularly my work on writing and grammar textbooks) still informs both my editing approach and expertise. I welcome the opportunity not only to improve your writing but also to teach you how to become a better writer.

I am a member of Cambridge Academic Editors Network (CAEN), the Editorial Freelancers Association (EFA), the Association of Art Editors (AAE), ACES: The Society for Editing, and Copyediting-L. I’m also an active participant in the Facebook Academic Editors group.

My husband and I have lived in the West Mt. Airy section of Philadelphia since 2015. Before we moved to this wonderful neighborhood as new empty nesters, our family lived in the Boston area for more than twenty years.

In addition to being an editor, I am a practicing artist with a deep knowledge of the field. When I’m not editing, I’m often working in my painting studio or walking my dog, Louie, in the Wissahickon (a huge, woodsy park near our house). If you’re interested in seeing some of my artwork, please check out my Instagram (where you might even see some photos of Louie).
